Selling CVV data on Telegram is a federal crime in the US. A CVV is the 3 or 4 digit code printed on a payment card. Buying it, selling it, or holding it with intent to use it violates 18 U.S.C. 1029. Penalties reach 10 years in prison for a first offense and 15 years for a repeat offense, plus fines. US courts issue subpoenas and search warrants for that data. The FBI runs carding cases through its Internet Crime Complaint Center. Federal prosecutors have charged operators of card shops and Telegram channels; several defendants pleaded guilty and received prison terms.
