How to Use the Luhn Algorithm Test
The Luhn algorithm is a simple checksum formula used to validate a variety of identification numbers, including credit card numbers. To test a number, double every second digit from the rightmost side. If doubling results in a number greater than 9, subtract 9 from the result. The final sum should be divisible by 10 for the number to be valid.

Example of Luhn Algorithm Testing
Let's say you have the credit card number 4111111111111111. Start by doubling every second digit from the right: 4, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1. This gives us 8, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2. Subtract 9 from each of these if they are greater than 9: 8, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2. The final sum is 26. Since 26 is divisible by 10, the number is valid.
