CVV Shop No Commission: Why 'Fee-Free' Carding Sites Are Scams

There is no legitimate CVV shop that operates with no commission. Any online marketplace using this phrase is an illegal carding site where criminals sell stolen credit card data, and the “no commission” claim is a marketing hook to separate buyers from their money. If you come across such a shop, know that both the seller and buyer are violating federal laws against credit card fraud and identity theft.

What CVV shops really are

CVV stands for Card Verification Value, the three- or four-digit security code on payment cards. So-called CVV shops are dark web marketplaces where criminals buy and sell stolen card numbers, expiration dates, and CVVs. These transactions are prohibited by the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, and they are the focus of FBI and DOJ investigations.

Why “no commission” is a red flag

No legitimate merchant would waive commission on stolen goods. Cybercriminals use this lure to attract newcomers, while often selling invalid or prepaid-card data. Buyers also risk having their payment details and personal information stolen by the shop operators themselves, because the whole operation is fraudulent and lawless.

Legal consequences for buyers

Purchasing CVV data is not a victimless act. It fuels payment card fraud that costs billions and harms consumers and financial institutions each year. Under the Justice Department, carding can lead to charges of wire fraud, identity theft, and access device fraud, with penalties of up to 15 years in prison. Federal agencies actively track transactions on these underground platforms.

How to protect yourself

If you have been tempted by a “no commission” CVV shop, stop and report it. File a complaint with the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) and contact the Federal Trade Commission. Always use credit cards with fraud protection for online purchases, and never buy financial data from third parties. Staying clear of these sites keeps you safe from scams and from criminal prosecution.
