Why I Won't Write a Guide to Selling CVVs Online

A CVV is the three- or four-digit security code printed on a payment card, and it exists to prove the person entering card details physically holds the card. Selling or buying CVVs is trafficking in stolen financial account data. In the United States it falls under access device fraud statutes, and card networks treat CVV/CVC values as sensitive authentication data that merchants and processors are prohibited from storing after a transaction is authorized.

A page optimized for "sell cvv online no fees" would function as a marketplace listing for stolen card data. That causes direct harm to cardholders, issuers, and merchants who absorb chargebacks, and it would expose whoever operates the site to criminal liability. There is no version of this guide I can write responsibly.

What the legitimate versions of this topic look like

For merchants who need to accept card payments

  • Use a PCI DSS–compliant payment processor or gateway so card data never touches your servers.
  • Tokenize stored payment methods through the processor instead of holding card numbers yourself.
  • Compare published processing rates and monthly fees from acquirers directly; those are the real "no hidden fee" questions worth answering.
  • Enable 3-D Secure or the issuer's authentication step to shift fraud liability where eligible.

For fraud and risk teams

  • Study card-testing patterns: rapid low-value authorization attempts, many BINs from one IP, and mismatched billing data.
  • Report stolen-card marketplaces to the card networks and to law enforcement rather than cataloguing them.

For researchers and journalists

Covering carding markets is legitimate work, but it is done through controlled, supervised research and with law enforcement or network cooperation, not by publishing purchasable listings.
