Why there is no legitimate "reliable" vendor

A legitimate CVV seller does not exist, because the only entity authorized to issue or verify a card's security code is the card issuer. Sites that advertise CVV sales are either running an advance-fee scam against the buyer, harvesting payment details from the buyer, or distributing card data obtained through breaches, skimming, and phishing. In all three cases the buyer is exposed, not protected. There is no escrow, no refund, and no recourse, since reporting the transaction means admitting to a crime.

What actually happens to buyers

  • Funds sent through irreversible methods such as crypto or gift cards are gone with no delivery.
  • Buyers who do receive data are committing access device fraud, which federal prosecutors pursue under 18 U.S.C. § 1029.
  • Devices used for these purchases are frequently infected with credential-stealing malware distributed by the same sellers.
  • Bank accounts used to fund the purchase can be closed and flagged, and banks may report suspected fraud activity.

Legal ways to handle card security

If the goal is accepting payments or protecting a card, use the issuer's own tools. Merchants can enable CVV verification, 3-D Secure, and address verification through their payment processor. Consumers can freeze a card, request a replacement, or use tokenized digital wallets that never expose the underlying code. Anyone who finds unauthorized charges should contact the issuer immediately and file a report with the FTC and the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center.
