Procedure

10. Log every case with the input, expected result, and actual result.

Handling real card data

Keep card entry inside a processor-hosted field so the number never touches your server, and store only a token plus the last four digits. That keeps the scope of your payment card data obligations small and gives you a clean boundary for testing. Any test that needs a live authorization should use the card issuer's own sandbox, not a customer's card.
