Why I Can't Write a CVV Buying Guide
I can't write a buying guide for CVVs or stolen card data. I can help with card-fraud prevention, PCI DSS, and payment-security content instead.
A card test successful payment means the payment gateway approved the transaction while running in test mode, confirming that your integration, card data formatting, and authentication path work as configured. It does not mean money moved. In a sandbox, the approval is simulated. In live mode, a test payment is a real authorization that you should void or refund once you finish checking the result.
An approval message covers more ground than most people assume. When a test charge returns success, it usually means the gateway verified several things at once:
Sandbox environments use published test card numbers. Each number triggers a specific outcome, so you choose the card that matches the scenario you want to exercise. Common test outcomes include:
A status of approved is only one line in the payload. The surrounding fields tell you whether the approval is clean or conditional:
Test approvals are deliberately permissive. A sandbox may accept numbers that a production risk engine would reject, skip an authentication step that live traffic must complete, ignore amount or currency limits, or fail to fire webhooks when your endpoint is unreachable. Treat a green result as proof that the code path runs, not as proof the payment flow is production ready.
Test environments should never receive real card numbers. Published test cards exist so you can exercise every branch of your code without touching live account data. If you need to confirm behavior against a real account, use a small authorization on your own card and reverse it immediately. Card data protection requirements apply to any system that stores, processes, or transmits account numbers, including staging servers that copy production data.

There is no legitimate place to sell CVV data. Trafficking in card verification values is card fraud under U.S. law; use lawful payment and fraud-reporting channels instead.
