Gift Vouchers

Traditional gift vouchers are printed paper gifts available in set values that can be spent in specific stores. Open-loop, semi-open loop, and closed-loop are often terms used when referring to gift vouchers. All gift cards sold via our partners’ websites are closed loop. This means that the gift card can only be spent at a single brand location, for example, an Xbox voucher can only be spent at Xbox etc.

Card Test Data v6: What It Is and How to Use It

Card test data v6 is a versioned bundle of fake card numbers, expiry values, CVV placeholders, and expected response codes that you load into a payment sandbox to prove your checkout handles approvals, declines, and errors. The v6 label marks a revision of that bundle. It is not a card network rule or a new standard. I treat it as fixture data: frozen, labeled, and checked into the repo next to the tests that consume it.

Card Test Data V10: Guide on Where to Buy CVV

What ships in a v6 set

  • Luhn-valid numbers pulled from reserved test BIN ranges, the ones every processor publishes for sandbox use
  • Decline triggers keyed to a specific number, amount, or currency
  • 3DS challenge and frictionless cases, plus a timeout case if your gateway supports it
  • Expired cards, wrong-length strings, and bad-CVV variants
  • A mapping from each case to the gateway response code you expect

Validate before you ship

Most broken payment tests fail on setup, not on code. A short checklist saves hours.

Card Test Data v9: Request Declined

  1. Run a Luhn check on every number in the set at load time, so a typo fails fast.
  2. Assert the exact response code, not just pass or fail. A decline that returns the wrong reason is still a bug.
  3. Test idempotency: submit the same request key twice and confirm one charge.
  4. Exercise void and refund on the same fixture, not a fresh one.
  5. Run the whole set against every currency and region you support.

Pitfalls I see often

  • Mixing sandbox keys with live credentials during a late-night debug session
  • Assuming a test number behaves the same across processors. It does not.
  • Hardcoding one amount, then missing the amount-triggered decline path
  • Letting the set drift. Version it, tag it, and note what changed between v5 and v6.

The compliance line

Sandbox data is safe to share and commit. Real cardholder data is not. PCI DSS is explicit that live account numbers stay out of test and development environments, and that rule does not bend for convenience. Bundles labeled card test data v6 that circulate on forums often contain repackaged or scraped values, so pull fixtures from your processor's published sandbox list instead. If a set includes numbers you cannot trace to a vendor doc, drop it.
